From the recording Anywhere But Here
I wrote "Anywhere But Here" with a frog in my throat an hour before I had to be at my day job. I was coming down with a cold, feeling hopelessly behind in my music dreams, and knowing it was too late to call off work without risking a write up--especially since it was a holiday. So, I sat down, vented it all into this song, then left the house.
Over a year later, I finally got to bring it fully to life alongside "The Treadmill". It was a blast in the studio and, hopefully, a blast for the you as well.
P.S. there is a frog somewhere in there. See if you can find it.

Lyrics
Dirty laundry on the floor
Phantom aches, my throat is sore
But I can't afford to call out sick today
Can anyone see?
I've been burnt out for weeks
No, I can't afford to show it on my face
Can't get fired til I quit
Tell myself "any day now"
But now I'm just so jaded
Won't somebody get me out
Oh I'd rather be
Anywhere but here
Anywhere but here
I can't see the stars through my frozen tears
Anywhere but here
Anywhere but here
Yet I stay where I am out of fear
I never wanna be that friend
Living for the weekend
After all, it's just a manmade system of dates
But I feel myself conforming
To a cog in the factory
Too distracted to dream beyond today
Can't get free until I'm rich
No spare time to make it big
And honestly I'd just rather be
Anywhere but here
Anywhere but here
I can't see the stars through my frozen tears
Anywhere but here
Anywhere but here
I stay where I am out of fear
Every time I dream again it hurts too much, hurts too much
Every time I feel again it hurts too much, hurts too much
Every time I dream again it only hurts, only hurts
Every time I feel again, I feel I'd rather be
Anywhere but here
Can't get fired til I quit
Anywhere but here
No free time to make it big
I stay where I am out of fear
Fear of putting it on the line
Fear of finally feeling alive
Fear of what I can't control
Keeps me stuck with what I know
Terrified that I'll never find
Anywhere but here
